Community Building
Community building is a central tenet of our work. Our members are working on diverse projects all across the state of California, and we are proud to serve as a co-convenor of many different types of gatherings that makes this work possible.
San Joaquin Valley Community Ownership Program
The California Community Land Trust Network (CACLTN) is partnering with the San Joaquin Valley Funders Collaborative to support organizations pursuing projects in the Valley that are based on shared ownership and democratic governance. These projects include cooperatives, CLTs, and community-owned agricultural initiatives with the goal to own land, housing and community assets as key strategies to establish equity and self-determination for communities of color. CACLTN is coordinating convenings, technical assistance, and shared learning among SJV community ownership organizations.
Annual Conference
We host a statewide conference to convene all those who are focused on community ownership projects and ensuring permanent affordability in housing. The main purpose of the annual conference is to nurture collaboration between community land trusts and build relationships with other partners, such as funders, other regional nonprofits, community activists, and more.
The program is proposed and co-created by and for our members and partners. Workshop topics cover a wide variety of areas – from affordable housing basics to deeper-dive topics such as limited equity housing cooperatives, regional collaborative models, and flexible financing solutions.
If you are interested or involved in the community land trust ecosystem in California, this annual convening is for you! The annual conference has grown to include participants from across California and beyond.

We regularly give briefings to municipal government officials, philanthropy partners, lenders, and other key partners in the community land trust development ecosystem.
You can also find us at the conferences and events of our partners, such as Housing California, Housing Now!, RISE Economy, and others. To inquire about a presentation or speaking engagement, please contact us.
Regional Convenings
We host a handful of regional gatherings per year, which can be found in our Events Calendar. These informal gatherings are a great place to meet people and get involved with your local community land trust.
