June 25, 2024 | 12–1PM CLTs and Undocumented Residents: Nuts and Bolts

United States racist immigration policy creates unique hardships for many low-income immigrants in accessing stable, affordable, high-quality homes. At the same time, many low-income immigrants come from indigenous communities with strong traditions in community stewardship and collective governance. This webinar is for both Community Land Trust practitioners and people who work in immigrant communities to learn more about how CLTs and undocumented residents can work together. Participants will hear from a rural CLT working with farmworkers to create an emergency housing project, and permanent housing in Bolinas, California, and from an urban CLT in Los Angeles that is converting an existing home to a housing co-operative that is open for people regardless of documentation. They will share their stories, lessons learned, and how they are navigating the unique challenges and opportunities working with these communities.

Speakers:

  • Federico Guss and Jasmin Bravo, Bolinas CLT
  • Matthew Vu, Beverly Vermont CLT

This two-day gathering for all those involved in the community land trust ecosystem in California is meant to nurture collaboration, encourage knowledge-sharing, and inspire change.
