San Joaquin Valley Community Ownership Program

About the San Joaquin Community Valley Ownership Program

The California Community Land Trust Network (CACLTN) is partnering with the San Joaquin Valley Funders Collaborative to support organizations pursuing projects in the Valley that are based on shared ownership and democratic governance. These projects include cooperatives, CLTs, and community-owned agricultural initiatives with the goal to own land, housing and community assets as key strategies to establish equity and self-determination for communities of color. CACLTN is coordinating convenings, technical assistance, and shared learning among SJV community ownership organizations.

In 2022, CNB Consulting and CACLTN conducted 12 interviews with emerging community ownership initiatives to have a better understanding of the challenges, assets and opportunities in the San Joaquin Valley. Read SJV Landscape Scan summary for more information.

Initial workshops on community ownership models and potential funding sources and opportunities were conducted in 2023. See past workshops below.

Technical Assistance

As part of the initiative, a cohort of SJV Organizations have been invited to receive specialized technical assistance (TA) in the areas of real estate, business planning, legal assistance and more. At this time, TA is only available to organizations pre-selected for the SJV Community Ownership TA program. To find out more about eligibility please contact [email protected]

San Joaquin Valley Community Ownership Workshops

Starting in 2024, the SJV Community Ownership Program will conduct quarterly virtual and/or in-person workshops OPEN TO ALL covering critical topics in advancing community ownership for land and housing. Workshops will also be a place to strategize about how to advance community ownership in the Valley.

If you have questions about the SJV Community Ownership Program, please contact Jacky Rivera at [email protected].
